Marble is a metamorphic rock and is the result of extreme heat and pressure applied to limestone. The distinctive crystalline structure of marble allows it to be polished to a high gloss, which creates the illusion of depth. Coming in a vast array of colours, with good strength marble is ideal for use as a floor or wall covering, and creates a distinguished classical look that complements every environment. Marble also comes honed, antiqued and tumbled.

Travertine is a very versatile stone, created by shifts in the earth's crust which allows steam under enormous pressure to mix with dissolved limestone. Further shifts in the earths crust moves the travertine to the surface, where it can be quarried. Our travertine products come in a number of different finishes to suit your taste and environment, for those that prefer a smooth feel under foot and hand, the travertine is honed and finished at our factories. This is a process of filling the holes before polishing the surface. If a traditional finish is your preference, the travertine can be tumbled, leaving the natural undulation of the stone. Other options include hand chiseled edges, and an opus roman pattern where the stone comes in mixed sizes. |

Limestone is a soft sedimentary stone, and is a result of millions of years of shells and bones from sea creatures settling on the bottom of the sea. It is a very practical and durable stone that can be easily maintained, making it very popular and much loved. Limestone's can be white or almost white, but because of impurities such as clay, sand and organic remains they can take on many different colours. The harder variations are ideal as floor coverings, limestone can be found in honed, polished, and tumbled forms.

Sandstone is a sedimentary rock, composed mainly of sand-size mineral or rock grains. Most sandstone is composed of quartz and/or feldspar, because these are the most common minerals in the earth's crust. Like sand, sandstone may be any color, but the most common colors are tan, brown, yellow, red, gray and white. Since sandstone beds often form highly visible cliffs and other topographic features, certain colors of sandstone have been strongly identified with certain regions

Slate is formed from very fine grained shale and clay deposits which settle in to layers under extreme temperature and pressure fluctuations, this creates the characteristic partings and grain distinctive of slate, known as its natural cleft and is ideal for use outdoors, where a positive anti-slip finish is required. Slate tiles come in honed, tumbled or riven finishes for use on floors or walls.
